The New York State Bridge Authority, which operates five of the bridges spanning the Hudson River, needed to detect trespassers, respond to traffic incidents and protect large open areas. Early approaches involved fencing with vibration devices. The problem: High costs and excessive alarms.
A consultant suggested a smart thermal video system for the bridges, and a year and a half later, the Authority relies on the technology 24/7 – not only for security but also for traffic monitoring.
